Season 4 (episode 8) of HBO’s hit series Insecure featured one of my paintings!! Two of the main characters, Issa & Lawrence, actually have a conversation about my “Madam Renaissance” painting and this is actually 1 of 2 paintings I have featured this season. The original featured is a 40×30 inch acrylic painting I did in 2014 titled “Madam Renaissance”. My portrait features a woman painted as an abstract butterfly which symbolizes change, resilience, & the beauty within our struggle as Blacks in this world. This painting celebrates the Black experience & I couldn’t think of a better show or time to have Vakseen Art featured!
