Ontario Museum of History & Art’s “We the People: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” exhibit opens Feb. 2nd and I’m honored to have a painting featured. The show delves into the significance of the Preamble & unpacks the nuances of the phrase “We the People”, it’s imperfections, complexities, and present-day interpretations.

My piece, “Black in America”, is a self portrait that was inspired by George Floyd’s murder & the immediate thought that it could’ve easily been me. As a Black man in America, I’m targeted daily & seen as a threat. “We the People” was never meant to include me.

Huge thank you to Ontario Museum + guest curators Riea Owens & Dr. Patricia Jessup-Woodlin for the opportunity to share my voice in such a powerful show! The opening reception is Feb. 18th. The show runs Feb. 2 – Apr. 16, 2023.
